How Focus Time Tracker Works
Focus Time Tracker is designed for simplicity and efficiency. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to make the most of it:
1. Adding a New Task
In the main interface, you'll find an input field labeled "what are you working on...".
- Optional: Use the mic button ( ) to use the voice command to transcribe your task. Click on the ( ) mic button, say your task name, a time and say "enter" to create your task. Easy peasy! Currently, voice transcriptions work best in Chrome.
- Type the name of your task into this field.
- Set an estimated time for the task using the hour and minute inputs.
- Click the arrow button ( ) to add the task to the "Created" list and immediately start the timer for it.
- Each new task will be designated a number to keep track of your created tasks which is shown on the left hand side. The total number of tasks that can be tracked at once is ten.
- Newer created and completed tasks will always appear at the top of the lists.
2. Managing Created Tasks
Once a task is added, it appears in the "Created" column.
- Pause: ( ) temporarily stops the timer.
- Target: The target time entered as the time to achieve.
- Timer: The timer is designed to help you stay focused. If you started the task upon creation, this timer will be running.
- Resume: Use the ( ) play button to resume a paused task. Only one task can be actively timed at any moment. Starting a new task or resuming another paused task will automatically pause the current one.
- Mark as Complete: Next to the timer, a checkmark button ( ) allows you to move the task to the "Completed" column. This signifies your task is finished.
- Delete: The ( ) button lets you remove a task from either list.
- The count above the "Created" list shows how many tasks are currently in this stage.
3. Completed Tasks
When you mark a task as complete, it moves to the "Completed" column, otherwise it will automatically move to the "Completed" section once the task reaches your target time.
- The actual time you spent on the task is what it is completed.
- The time shown is the final duration spent on that task.
- Keep track of all your projects with the "Tasks Total Time" display in the header.
- Completed tasks can also be deleted using the ( ) button.
- The count above the "Completed" list shows how many tasks you've finished.
4. Total Time Tracked
The "Tasks Total Time" display (e.g., "00hr 15min 08s") at the top of the app interface shows the cumulative time spent on all tasks, whether currently in the "Created" list (whether paused or active). This gives you an overview of your productive time for the session.
Please keep in mind that if you delete a task, that time will be deleted from the accumulated total of the task total time tracker.
Key Principles:
- Flexibility: Focus Time Tracker can have its timer running at any given time in your day. Start a new task or resume a different task, any currently active timer will pause.
- Accessibility: Easily accessible via your browser. No complex setup, no software to install. It works on Mac and PC.
- Focus on Simplicity: The goal is to help you track time with minimal fuss, so you can concentrate on your work.
Happy tracking, and may your focus be ever strong!
